WHAT HAPPENED?

Terrorist attacks have increased in Pakistan in recent months, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pahtunhwa and Balochistan.

In the city of Kuetta, the capital of Balochistan, a police station was attacked with a grenade by unknown motorcyclists yesterday and 1 police officer was wounded in the attack.

Islamabad claims that these attacks are planned and directed by the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) based in Afghanistan. Afghanistan denies these allegations.

In Peshawar, 102 people, mostly police officers, were killed in a suicide attack on a mosque during midday prayers on January 30, and 10 police officers were killed in a suicide attack in Balochistan on March 6.

In Balochistan's Zhob district, a suicide attack was carried out on the convoy of Jamaat-e-Islami Party leader Sirajul Haq on May 19. The party's Secretary General Amirul Azim announced that party leader Haq escaped the suicide attack unhurt and the attacker was killed.
