North Korean leader Kim Jong-unhas given critical instruction to the Korean military after preparations for a large-scale military exercise between the United States and South Korea began.

At a meeting of the Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, which he chairs, Kim discussed the Korean military's state of combat readiness and offensive plans against enemies, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

According to the news agency, Kim signed a decree on "implementing important military measures" while instructing the military to finalize war plans after talks on increasing border troops, conducting real war drills, and developing new strategies and weapons.

Noting that the military should acquire more powerful offensive weapons to increase its nuclear deterrence and that these weapons should be deployed immediately, Kim ordered the large-scale production of various weapons and systems.

PLAN TO ATTACK SOUTH KOREA

During the meeting, Kim is seen pointing on a map of the Korean Peninsula to some points in and around the capital Seoul, which houses half of South Korea's population and where the army is headquartered, KCNA reported.

CRITICAL RESHUFFLE

At the meeting, Kim announced that he appointed Ri Yong Gil as Chief of General Staff to replace Pak Su-il.

It was not shared whether Pak, who is also the Minister of Defense, will continue this duty.
