Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the city of Rostov-on-Don after Wagner's coup attempt. In a statement released by the Kremlin, it was reported that Putin also visited the military headquarters established in Rostov for the "special military operation" in Ukraine.
Putin was briefed by some commanders at the headquarters, while Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to Putin.
Rostov-on-Don, about 100 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, is home to the headquarters of the army of Russia's warring Southern Military District.
Rostov-on-Don was on the agenda not only because it was a city where the war in Ukraine was managed, but also because it was the first city that Wagner seized after the coup attempt.
After seizing the city without any clashes, Wagner leaderYevgeny Prigozhin threatened Russian senior officials by saying "We are coming to Moscow".
