Ukraine, which resisted Russia's invasion attempt, announced that it started a counter-attack. The Kyiv administration stated that their first priority was the independence of the occupied territories, according to the local sources.

It is emphasized that there has been an increase in the attacks of the Ukrainian army against Russian targets after the counter-offensive announcement. By Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's order, Ukrainian forces are not only hitting Russian targets in the occupied territories but also critical points within Russia.

Although Ukraine's attacks, which are usually carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), cause great losses in Russia, the low carrying capacity of UAVs prevents the desired damage.

Zelenskyy announced a development that will ease this limitation and he added that Ukraine had developed a long-range missile.

In addition to this, it was announced that the range of the missile system referred to as the “mystery weapon” due to the fact that Zelenskyy gave very few details, was 700 kilometers. The range of the missile means that targets on Russian territory can be easily hit. It is stated that this situation could change the course of the war.

Stating that Ukraine's main goal is to put these missiles into mass production, Zelenskyy shared the information that the weapon was produced by the Ukrainian Ministry of Strategic Industries but did not provide further details.

ATTACKS ON RUSSIA

In his statement, Zelenskyy explicitly referred to this week's air strike on an airfield in western Russia, in which several military aircraft were destroyed.

Russia faced coordinated Ukrainian attacks on Wednesday and lost several fighter jets and cargo aircraft of high strategic value. Kyiv targeted six regions in Russia, including an attack on an airfield in the western city of Pskov near the Latvian and Estonian borders.
