Türkiye exports 47.6 billion dollars worth of services last year

In 2022, Türkiye's exports of services amounted to 47.6 billion dollars and imports to 35.2 billion dollars. The share of transport in total exports increased from 69.1 percent in 2021 to 74.3 percent in 2022. The share of "other business services", which ranked second, decreased from 10.2 percent in 2021 to 8.4 percent in 2022.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the international trade in services statistics for 2022.

Accordingly, exports of services excluding travel increased by 37 percent from 34.7 billion dollars in 2021 to 47.6 billion dollars in 2022. Service imports, on the other hand, increased by 25.6 percent from 28.1 billion dollars in 2021 to 35.2 billion dollars in 2022.

According to the expanded balance of payments services classification, the share of transport in total exports increased from 69.1 percent in 2021 to 74.3 percent in 2022. The share of "other business services", which ranked second, decreased from 10.2 percent in 2021 to 8.4 percent in 2022.

The "telecommunications, computer, and information services" sector ranked third in service exports in 2022 with a share of 6.2 percent.

Exports of transport services, which constitute an important part of service exports, increased by 47.2 percent from 24 billion 6 million dollars in 2021 to 35 billion 348 million dollars in 2022. Exports of telecommunications, computer, and information services increased by 14.2 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year to 2 billion 958 million dollars.

The share of transport in total imports was 38.8 percent in 2021 and 46.3 percent in 2022. The share of "other business services", which ranked second, decreased from 21.4 percent in 2021 to 19.4 percent in 2022. The "telecommunications, computer and information services" sector, whose share in service imports was 10 percent, ranked third in 2022.

Service exports to European Union (EU) countries in 2022 were 18 billion 814 million dollars and exports to other European countries were 6 billion 682 million dollars. In imports, imports from EU countries in 2022 were 15 billion 171 million dollars and imports from other European countries were 3 billion 807 million dollars.

EU countries were the leading country group in Türkiye's exports and imports of services in 2022. While EU countries had the largest share in total services exports with 39.5 percent, 43.1 percent of total services imports were made with EU countries.

In exports of services, 28.4 percent of total exports in 2022 were carried out with Germany, the USA, and the United Kingdom. In exports of services, Germany ranked first with a share of 12.3 percent and 5 billion 847 million dollars, while the USA ranked second with a share of 10.3 percent and the United Kingdom ranked third with a share of 5.8 percent.

In imports, Ireland ranked first with a share of 8.7 percent and 3 billion 78 million dollars in 2022, followed by Germany with 2 billion 787 million dollars and a share of 7.9 percent, and the USA with a share of 7.9 percent and 2 billion 772 million dollars.
