The free-trade zone on the African continent offers great opportunities for Turkish investors, African Union Commissioner Albert Muchanga said at the Türkiye- Africa Business and Economic Forum in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Muchanga, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Industry and Mining of the African Union Commission, emphasized the importance of the "Türkiye- Africa Business and Economic Forum" at a joint press conference with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Minister of Communications Telecommunications of the Union of Comoros Kamalidini Souef.

Muchanga stated that the forum, which was organized for the 4th time this year, aimed to establish new partnerships and deepen unity.

"The Forum is an indicator of Türkiye-Africa unity and support for peace and stability in Africa," Muchanga said.

Speaking about the topics discussed at the forum, Muchanga stated that partnerships in different fields from energy to young entrepreneurship, from banking to logistics were discussed.

Muchanga emphasized that the African free trade zone offers great opportunities for Turkish investors.

"In order to increase the import and export of products and services, necessary financial instruments should be established in Africa. Partnerships should be established between Turkish and African companies,” he said.

‘RELATIONS SHOULD DEVELOP IN KEY AREAS’

“Officials in the decision-making position in Africa met here and we will work in priority areas as previously said,” Kamalidini Souef, Minister of Telecommunications of the Union of Comoros emphasized.

Explaining that there are many agreements between Türkiye and African countries, Souef pointed out that this is not enough.

Underlining the need to further strengthen and maintain relations, Souef said, "We need to develop relations in key areas such as logistics, digital transformation and telecommunications. Happily, in the statements made, we have seen that Türkiye has serious potential in these areas. We need to eliminate the difficulties between African countries and Türkiye."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and ministers of economy, trade, and finance from the African continent are expected to attend the forum, whose main theme is "Challenges and Opportunities: Stronger Türkiye-Africa Economic Partnerships", the forum prioritized energy, infrastructure, agriculture and agro-industry, health, tourism, and digital marketing sectors.

Panels, G2B, and B2B meetings will be held simultaneously during the event attended by approximately 3 thousand people.
