Ex-Pink Floyd star investigated for wearing Nazi-style costume on stage in Germany

Ex-Pink Floyd star Roger Waters wore a provocative costume while performing in the German capital Berlin last week. Berlin police launched an investigation into the incident.

Footage on social media shows Waters wearing a long black jacket with red sleeves and firing a replica machine gun.

PRAISE FOR THE NAZIS

Police have confirmed that an investigation has been opened on suspicion that the content of the costume may constitute glorification, justification or endorsement of Nazi rule and thus a disturbance of the public peace.

Once the police have concluded their investigation, Berlin prosecutors will decide whether to bring any charges.

DENIES ACCUSATIONS OF ANTI-SEMITISM

Waters has faced backlash for supporting the BDS movement, which calls for boycotts and sanctions against Israel, but he denies the accusations against him.

SCENES TRIED TO BE BANNED

Waters' May 28th staged concert was blocked by Frankfurt law. However, Waters appealed in a local court and was successful in his appeal.

In Munich, the city council said it had explored the possibilities of banning a concert but concluded that it was not legally possible to cancel a contract with the organizer. His appearance there on Sunday was accompanied by a protest attended by the leader of the local Jewish community.

Last year, the Polish city of Krakow canceled Waters' concerts because of his sympathetic stance towards Russia in its war against Ukraine.
