Alexandra Paul, a former figure skater who represented Canada at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, died at the age of 31 as a result of a traffic accident.
The accident took place in the town of Melancthon in Ontario, Canada. A lorry hit 7 vehicles, including the car driven by the former athlete. Paul lost his life due to the impact of the collision, while his one-year-old son in the same vehicle survived the accident.
Paul won the silver medal in the ice dance category at the 2010 World Junior Championships, where he competed with his partner Mitchell Islam, whom he married in 2021.
After finishing 18th at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, Paul ended his active career in 2016.
