Danny Masterson, star of "That 70s Show", was sentenced to life in prison for raping two women. After the sentence, letters from Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, one of Hollywood's favorite couples, defending Masterson emerged.

In the letter obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Kutcher described his co-star as a "role model" with an extraordinary character and explained that he was the reason Kutcher did not fall into drugs.

"Danny's commitment to promoting a drug-free lifestyle has been a guiding light in my journey in the entertainment world and has helped me prioritize my own well-being and focus on making responsible choices," Kunis said in her letter.

'SORRY'

Following the backlash to these letters, the celebrity couple released a video on behalf of Danny Masterson acknowledging the pain caused by their letter and pledging support for victims of sexual assault.

"We are aware of the pain caused by the letters we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson, we support the victims," Kutcher said in the video, explaining that Masterson's family contacted them a few months ago and asked them to write letters to represent the person they have known for 25 years so that the judge could take this into account when sentencing.

"The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury verdict, nor to re-traumatize the victims in any way. We would never want to do that. We apologize if this has happened," Kunis said.

The famous couple ended the video by stating that they will forever support people who are victims of sexual abuse.

WHAT HAPPENED

Three women complained about Masterson, who was at the peak of his fame between 2001-03. The women said they were drugged before they were sexually assaulted. As a result of the trial, it was ruled that Masterson raped two of these women.

In the case in the United States (US), the court sentenced Danny Masterson to life imprisonment for raping two women. Masterson will serve at least 30 years of this sentence.
