A long-lost model of the X-Wing Fighter used in a critical battle in the original Star Wars film is up for auction with bids starting at 400 thousand dollars.
The 50-centimetre model was discovered in the collection of model maker Greg Jein, who was nominated for an Oscar for 1941 and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Jein died in May last year at the age of 76.
Built by George Lucas' visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic, the model was used in the final battle of the 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope was used in its final battle, including the famous trench run.
The model is one of four known "hero models" detailed specifically for use in close-ups.
