American singer Katy Perry signed a giant music deal. Copyright company Litmus Music confirmed that Katy Perry has purchased the catalog rights to five studio albums.
Litmus announced that they paid 225 million dollars for the recording and publishing rights to the songs on Perry's "One of the Boys", "Teenage Dream", "PRISM", "Witness" and "Smile" albums released between 2008 and 2020.
Perry became the first woman and second singer after Michael Jackson to have five songs from the same album top the Hot 100 chart. Her top singles were "California Gurls," "Firework," "E.T.," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "Teenage Dream."
"Katy Perry is a creative visionary who has made a huge impact in music, television, film, and philanthropy. I am honored to partner with her again and help her lead Litmus' incredible repertoire,” Litmus co-founder Dan McCarroll said.
Perry is not the only artist selling his music catalog. Justin Timberlake sold the publishing rights of his songs for 100 million dollars, Justin Bieber for 200 million dollars, David Bowie for 250 million dollars, and Bob Dylan's 60-year song catalog was sold for 300 million dollars.
