TV and production industry fair MIPCOM opened its doors in Cannes, France.

Speaking at the opening of the fair, Sekib Avdagic, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC), stated that the sales agreements of Turkish TV series, which have become classic with their "excitement", "love" and "drama" content, have started to be signed within the scope of MIPCOM.

Stating that Turkish TV series are the center of attention of 108 countries in Cannes, Avdagic said that 34 companies from Türkiye are participating in the MIPCOM 2023 Fair, 20 of which are participating with the national participation organization of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. He stated that there were 2 thousand 600 producers, 3 thousand 100 content buyers, and 11 thousand visitors at the fair.

He also stated that Turkish TV series celebrated their 17th anniversary in the Middle East and Gulf countries and their 10th anniversary in Latin America.

"In the 17 years that Turkish TV series have been exported, they have entered the emotional world of global markets in such a way that whichever TV series we produce becomes the center of attention even at the script stage and 80 percent of them are snapped up before they go on air," he said.

Avdagiç emphasised that the sector was able to make sales to buyers especially in the Middle East and Latin America even before the series went on air, with the success brought by this discipline, and noted that this was an indication that the sector had proven itself.

Stating that they are pleased to witness the stakeholders of the Turkish content industry successfully enter the new sales season, Avdagic said that the demand for well-produced Turkish TV content is increasing.
