Turkish cinema takes center stage at Cannes Film Festival

Turkish cinema is being promoted at the 77th Cannes Film Festival with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Bogazici Culture and Arts Foundation.

According to a statement made by the foundation, a Turkish stand was established at the festival to introduce Türkiye's cultural heritage to the world and emphasize the brand value of Turkish cinema.

Cannes attendees will get a taste of the depth and variety of Turkish cinema, with leading figures from the industry showcasing the country's film scene.

Attendees will also learn about Türkiye new cinema law, offering a 30% cash rebate for foreign film productions. This incentive, coupled with Türkiye's stunning natural landscapes, aims to solidify its position as a major film shooting destination.

Ogun Sanlier, chairman of the board of directors of the Bogazici Culture and Arts Foundation, stated that this step, to be realized at the Cannes Film Festival, aims to strengthen Turkish cinema's presence in the global arena.

Birol Guven, head of Turkish cinema at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, visited the country's Cannes stand. He emphasized the festival's importance as a global platform to promote Turkish cinema internationally.

A special event will also be organized at the festival to provide information about Türkiye's film industry and filmmaking.
