In the statement made by the National Public Health Agency of Greece (EODY), it was stated that a 6-year-old child died due to septic shock, and the Strep A virus was detected in the blood test.
"Epidemiological data do not indicate an alarming public health situation in the country," the statement said.
Strep A bacteria is known to settle in people's throat and skin, often causing colds and sore throat from time to time.
Bacteria that cause rashes and skin infections in some parts of the body can lead to serious complications and death in some cases.
The bacteria that cause the disease can easily spread between people through sneezing, coughing and close contact.
