Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson made statements regarding the ongoing NATO membership process of his country and Finland.
Kristersson said that Finland may become a member of NATO before Sweden because Türkiye does not look forward to Sweden's NATO membership.
Stating that Finland's membership process has progressed more moderately than Sweden's since the Madrid Summit, Kristersson underlined that for this reason, the possibility of Finland becoming a member of NATO is increasing. Noting that the final decision is in Turkey's hands and that they are ready for Finland's membership to NATO without Sweden, Kristersson said, "The main issue is not whether Sweden will become a member, but when."
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that their goal is for both Finland and Sweden to join the union as soon as possible.
