Every time it approaches our border, we will take new measures: Russia

Spokesperson Peskov made statements to journalists on the agenda in the capital Moscow. Speaking about NATO, Peskov stated that they will not take a step back and "We take the necessary measures to ensure our security every time NATO approaches our borders," he said.

Asked whether Putin will attend the ceremony to be held at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant on April 27, due to the arrival of fresh nuclear fuel at the facility and the plant gaining the "nuclear facility" status, "Russia will be represented properly at this ceremony," Peskovgave the answer.

'NOT RUSSIA APPROACHING THE NATO BORDER'

Regarding NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's statements that "Russia makes empty promises on nuclear weapons and its actions should be followed carefully", Peskov said, "NATO is expanding towards Russian borders. It is not Russia that is approaching NATO borders with its military infrastructure. This move tells us. "It's a problem and a concern for our security. Every time NATO comes close to our borders, we take the necessary measures to ensure our security."

Referring to Serbia's military exercise with NATO countries, Peskov stated that they will follow it carefully and said, "Attempts are constantly being made to lure Serbia into the ranks of those who display positions against Russia. Belgrade is under terrible and unprecedented pressure." 

Spokesperson Peskov also evaluated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that "the border between Ukraine and Poland will be lifted in the future" and said, "It is necessary to understand if Zelenskyy means the capture of Ukraine by Poland. This is not well understood."
