NATO wanted to destroy Russia: Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov chaired the session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in New York, USA.

Holding a press conference after the session, Lavrov made evaluations on many issues, especially the developments in the US, NATO, Europe and the Middle East.

'US AIMS TO PROTECT THE MULTIPOLAR WORLD ORDER'

The Russian Foreign Minister accused the United States and its close allies of pursuing new wars in different parts of the world.

Lavrov said, “Preparations are being made for a new round of warfare to maintain dominance in the world. The multipolar world order is taking shape objectively. But I don't know how that will happen," he said.

'NATO AIMED TO DESTROY RUSSIA'

According to Lavrov, NATO aimed to destroy Russia, but was not successful in this regard.

Defending that Russia has managed to stand on its feet, Lavrov said, “Russia asked NATO not to expand its borders. We didn't ask for much. We emphasized the necessity of preventing this. We were promised several times that this would not happen. Everyone knows now that they lied. Moreover, they lied about the Minsk Agreement and other agreements," he said.
