Turkish airspace was closed to Armenian planes

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a live broadcast he attended that Türkiye closed its airspace to Armenian planes after Armenia's monument provocation. Speaking on the construction of the Nemesis monument for terrorists, Minister Cavusoglu said, “It is not possible for me to accept this. In response, we closed our airspace to Armenian planes. Only the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament will come to Türkiye for the meeting, exceptionally, we have allowed him. If they continue, we will take new steps. We will not allow flights to third countries, including VIP flights," he said.

Armenia had erected a monument aimed at glorifying terrorist acts against Turkish diplomats as well as Ottoman political leaders. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted harshly to the monument, which was called "Nemesis", the code name of the terrorist attacks, and it was pointed out that such decisions would harm the ongoing normalization steps with Armenia.

"The opening of this shameful monument is a glorification of a bloody terrorist act that led to heinous terrorist attacks in which 31 of our diplomats and their family members were murdered," the Foreign Office said in a statement last week.
