European Union (EU) Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, "I think the mass participation in the elections is good news." EU Council President Charles Michel, who held a joint press conference with Leyen, said, "We will closely monitor what the result will be."

The election process and results in Türkiye were closely followed by the world press. At the joint press conference organized by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel, the Turkish elections were also on the agenda.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of the high turnout in the Turkish elections and said, "Of course Türkiye is an important partner for us. I think the massive turnout in these elections is good news because it is a very clear sign that the Turkish people are determined to exercise their democratic right to go and vote and that they value democratic institutions. It is a big win of yesterday's elections. Now the elections are still open. We need to look at the runoff, we are following very closely the statements on this issue and we need to see what the runoff of the election will bring."

'WE WILL WATCH CLOSELY WHAT THE OUTCOME WILL BE'

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, said at the press conference that they continue to closely monitor the Turkish elections, "I think this is really important. It is always important to appreciate the accession process of Turkish citizens. We will watch closely what the outcome will be."
