Around 9.8 million registered Greek voters will cast their ballots in 21,529 polling stations at 07:00 AM local time to elect members of the new Greek parliament.
This year, 400,000 voters will cast their first vote and 22,000 will vote abroad.
The polls will close at 07:00 PM on Sunday.
There will be two main contenders in the elections. One is the 55-year-old conservative current Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the other is former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, head of the left-wing Syriza party.
When voting ends at 7:00 PM, a joint exit poll will be published by the six polling organizations.
Opinion polls show Mitsotakis clearly ahead.
