Russia makes new decision on tax treaties with "unfriendly countries"

Russian President Vladimir Putin has canceled some provisions in tax treaties with so-called "unfriendly" Western countries. Russia had suspended double tax treaties with "unfriendly" countries in response to sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukraine war.

According to the resolution signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the provisions of agreements with "unfriendly countries" covering double taxation on income and assets were annulled.

In the decree in which the Russian government was instructed to reduce the impact of the cancellation of the said provisions on the economy, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also tasked with providing the necessary information about the cancellations to the relevant countries.

While Western countries are applying comprehensive sanctions against Russia due to the Ukraine War, Russia is implementing sanctions against these countries. Russia has suspended double data deals with "unfriendly" countries in response to sanctions imposed on Moscow over the Ukraine war.
