North Korean President Kim Jong-Un is reportedly on his way to Russia to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of South Korea's leading channels, based on senior figures from the South Korean government, Kim set off for Russia on his armored train, YTN reported.
In the news, it was reported that Kim moved with his special armored train to the northeast of the country, where there is a short land border with Russia. According to YTN, the meeting between Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to take place on Tuesday. In its previous news, the broadcaster announced that the meeting would be held on Wednesday.
The Russian state agency Interfax, which reported on the meeting before the South Korean news channel, reported that Kim would visit the Far East in the coming days.
This will be Kim's first visit abroad in more than four years and his first since the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting between Putin and Kim is expected to take place in Vladivostok. Kim's last foreign trip was to Vladivostok in 2019 after the nuclear disarmament talks with United States (US) President Donald Trump failed. Kim met with Putin in this city.
It is stated that the most important agenda item of the meeting between Putin and Kim was the supply of arms and ammunition from North Korea. It is reported that the Russian army has difficulty in countering the Ukrainian army, which has gained momentum with the military and financial support of the US and its allies, and stated that the Russian army, which is short of ammunition, sees the Pyongyang administration as a solution. According to foreign media reports, a Russian military delegation visited North Korea for this purpose, and the Putin-Kim meeting will be held to finalize this request.
The land border between North Korea and Russia is separated by theTumen River and the two countries are connected by the Pont de l'Amitié railway bridge, the only crossing over the river.
