Following the meeting of United States (US) National Security AdvisorJake Sullivan and Chinese Foreign MinisterWang Yi in Malta yesterday, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met on the margins of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, USA.
"The world expects us to manage our relationship responsibly. The United States is committed to doing exactly that. From the U.S. perspective, face-to-face diplomacy is the best way to deal with areas where we disagree, and it is also the best way to explore areas of cooperation between us," Blinken said before the meeting.
"At present, China-US relations are facing many challenges," he said, expressing hope that China and the US will make efforts to promote the steady development of relations. "The world needs stable and healthy China-US relations," Han said.
Yesterday's meeting between Sullivan and Wang lasted about 12 hours and both sides described the meeting as "sincere, substantive and constructive".
