French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a strong response to recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, directing his criticism towards Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Russia.
President Macron expressed deep concerns regarding a potential Azerbaijani attack on Armenia, asserting that "Baku poses a threat to the shared border and territorial integrity of Armenia." Macron emphasized France's commitment to upholding Armenia's territorial integrity.
Accusing Moscow, Ankara, and Baku,
"Today, we witness Russia collaborating with Azerbaijan, Türkiye consistently supporting these actions, and an Azerbaijani government that disregards borders while threatening Armenia's sovereignty." Macron declared.
Following Azerbaijan's 24-hour "anti-terrorist operation," representatives of occupying Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh laid down their arms last Wednesday. They subsequently initiated negotiations with the Baku administration for potential reintegration into Azerbaijan, facilitated by Moscow.
Armenia has voiced criticism towards Russia for what it perceives as a lack of support, extending to the recent conflicts. In response, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian described the effectiveness of his country's current alliances, particularly with Russia, as inadequate.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan embarked on a one-day working visit to Nakhchivan, accepting an invitation from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Ankara and Baku have previously expressed their intention to expedite efforts to establish the "Zangezur Corridor," which would connect Türkiye to mainland Azerbaijan through Nakhchivan and Armenia.
