According to the official news agency of Armenia, Armenpress, an explosion occurred in the evening at a oil storage facility on Askeran road near Khankendi.

It was reported that many people were killed and more than over 300 people were injured in an explosion and subsequent fire at a oil storage facility near the Hankendi Askeran road in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

Armenian representatives in Karabakh stated that there were many dead and wounded as a result of the explosion and the fire that broke out afterwards.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. All hospitals in Khankendi were in a state of emergency. It was reported that the number of wounded exceeded 300, and the condition of most of the wounded was severe. Officials say at least 20 people killed after an explosion in the oil depot, 290 people have been taken to hospital with dozens in ‘critical condition’.
