Diplomatic traffic continues after the anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and United States Secretary of StateAntony Blinken reportedly spoke by telephone.

In the statement made by the Azerbaijani Presidency, it was noted that Blinken called Aliyev by phone, and during the conversation, views were exchanged on the current situation in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan following the anti-terrorist operation against the Armenian armed forces.

Aliyev stated that only military facilities were targeted in the operation, which was completed in less than 24 hours, and the civilian population was not harmed. Stating that the illegal Armenian armed forces were disarmed and removed from the territory of Azerbaijan, Aliyev reminded that hundreds of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition were confiscated in the last 5 days.

Aliyev noted that representatives of foreign missions in Azerbaijan and a representative of the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator's Office inspected the confiscated weapons on the spot.

Aliyev stated that, like other minorities in the country, work is being carried out to ensure the rights of Armenians living in Karabakh within the framework of the laws of the country and international obligations, and that negotiations are being held between Azerbaijani state officials and representatives of the Armenian population on integration issues, assistance is sent to Armenian residents by the Azerbaijani state and the infrastructure in the region is being repaired.

The Azerbaijani President noted that cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is being carried out to provide assistance to Armenian residents and that the UN Resident Coordinator's Office is ready to organize a visit to the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan in the near future.

Blinken, on the other hand, expressed his concern about the situation and said that it was important to ensure stability in the region and to establish dialogue with local Armenians.

Following Azerbaijan's operation, talks were held between the representatives of Armenian civilians in Karabakh and the Baku administration on the integration and rights of Armenians in Karabakh on September 21 in Yevlakh and September 24 in Khojaly. It was agreed that the third meeting would be held in the near future.
