Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held talks about the Israel-Palestine war with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt, and Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamed Al Thani of Qatar.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, President Abbas held a series of telephone conversations with Arab leaders. In a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Abbas expressed his appreciation for Riyadh's support for the Palestinian people and its unwavering stance.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince said that his country will continue to stand by the Palestinian people and will do its best to restore calm and stability. The two leaders discussed the escalating military tension in and around Gaza, which threatens civilian lives and the security and stability of the region.

Abbas also held telephone conversations with King Abdullah of Jordan, President Sisi of Egypt, and Emir Sheikh Tamim of Qatar.

In his talks with the leaders, Abbas said that it is imperative to work with all parties to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people everywhere, especially in Gaza.

Emphasizing the importance of delivering medical and humanitarian aid to Gaza, Abbas said that the only solution to the escalating problems in the region is a political solution to end the Israeli occupation of the territory of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

During their talks with Abbas, the leaders said that they would make every effort to ease tensions in the region and liaise with all regional and international parties.

WHAT HAPPENED

Hamas's military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced that they launched a comprehensive attack against Israel called "Al-Aqsa Flood" on the morning of October 7, 2023.

While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, armed groups entered the settlements in the region.

The Israeli army also launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of warplanes.
