France's sending of arms to Armenia is not the right attitude towards maintaining peace in the region, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ayhan Hajizadeh said in a written statement on his social media account.

"Armenia and France must put an end to their armament policy in the region and these countries must realize that there is no alternative to peace and cooperation in the region. We condemn France's sending of Bastion armored personnel carriers with offensive capabilities to Armenia," Hajizadeh said.

The Azeri spokesperson said that this step by France would damage the peace process in the region and emphasized that it must be stopped.

Hajizadeh called on the international community to refrain from arming Armenia and to stop and condemn such illegitimate activities.

In October, France and Armenia signed an agreement on arms sales and military assistance.
