Top US diplomat Blinken assures full support for Ukraine in meeting with presidential office head

The United States will provide Ukraine with all the support it needs, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said after a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, on Monday.

In a written statement made by the U.S. State Department, it was reported that Blinken and Yermak met in Washington.

The statement said the two officials discussed winter preparations, including the latest developments on the battlefield in Ukraine, the continued procurement of additional air defense equipment, and the strengthening of Ukraine's infrastructure against Russian missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks.

In the statement reiterating the U.S. commitment to Ukraine and its people and noted that Blinken conveyed the ongoing U.S. efforts to provide Ukraine with the support it needs against Russian aggression.

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR

The Russia-Ukraine war has been ongoing for 622 days since it began on Feb. 24, 2022, following Russian President Vladimir Putin's televised announcement of a "special military operation in Ukraine" in the early hours of that morning. According to data from the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights as of Oct. 9, 2023, the conflict has resulted in casualties, with 9,806 civilians losing their lives and 17,962 sustaining injuries between the commencement of hostilities and Oct. 8, 2023.
