200 tons of dates from UAE to Türkiye
The trucks loaded with 200 tons of dates, which the UAE sent to earthquake victims due to the month of Ramadan, set off from Gaziantep to go to 11 cities affected by the disaster.
Flooding occurred in the quake-hit zones: 14 dead
Sanliurfa and Adiyaman, which were affected by two major earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, were shaken by floods this time. While many houses were flooded in the provinces, the streets almost turned into a lake. In Tut district of Adiyaman, 1 person lost his life and 3 people disappeared as a result of the container in the garden being caught in water. In Sanliurfa, 4 people lost their lives in the flood, and the lifeless bodies of 5 more people were found in the basement of the city. Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said that a 1.5-year-old child was among those who lost their lives in the flood disaster. According to the last minute information, another sad news came from Adiyaman, the loss of life in the flood disaster increased to 14. Search and rescue efforts continue for the 4 missing people in Adiyaman.
8,200 winter tents from Pakistan to Türkiye
Due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, the second ship carrying 8,200 winter tents from Pakistan to Türkiye set off. The ships will reach Mersin Port on 23-24 March.
A moment of silence from the UN
The 52nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council started with a moment of silence for those who lost their lives due to the earthquakes in Türkiye on 8 February.
Earthquake houses will be built low-rise
Türkiye is taking action for new houses to be built after the earthquake disaster it has experienced one after another. In the first stage, 199,739 permanent residences and 73,972 village houses will be built in 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. While the first start was given for 855 of these residences, the contract process for 14 thousand 597 of them will be completed by the end of February. The buildings will be low-rise and will be built in accordance with the local architecture.
