Our national wrestler Rıza Kayaalp won the Greco-Roman 130 kg gold medal at the European Wrestling Championship held in Croatia. Kayaalp equaled the record of Russian Alexander Karelin, who won the same number of European titles.
At the European Wrestling Championship held in Croatia, Rıza Kayaalp won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 130 kg category.
According to the statement made by the Turkish Wrestling Federation, national athletes got on the mat in the ongoing organization in the capital Zagreb.
Greco-Roman style 130 kg, Rıza Kayaalp, Serbian Boris Petrusic in the qualifiers, Norway's Oskar Marvik in the quarter-finals and Lithuanian Mantas Knystautas in the semi-finals with technical superiority (8-0), making his mark in the final.
Rıza Kayaalp, who became the European champion for the 12th time by beating Azerbaijani Sabah Saleh Shariati 2-1 in the final, also equaled the record of Russian Alexander Karelin, who has 12 European championships.
