Breanna Stewart breaks WNBA single-season scoring record
New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart scored the most points in a Women's National Basketball Association of America (WNBA) regular season with 885 points.
Breanna Stewart, who plays for the New York Liberty team of the American Women's Basketball League (WNBA), became the player who scored the most points in a single season with 885 points.
The 29-year-old player, who has won 2 WNBA championships in her career, Stewart, who has been selected as the most valuable player of the final series twice and once in the regular season, continues her scoring game this year after 2022 when she was the top scorer.
Stewart thus surpassed Diana Taurasi, who held the record with 860 points in 2006, when 34 games were played in the regular season.
Since the number of regular season games increased from 36 to 40 in 2023, Stewart has two more games to improve his record.
Stewart, who played for Turkish team Fenerbahce during the break in the WNBA, also passed the 40-point threshold for the 4th time in her career, sharing the record with Diana Taurasi.
