National wrestler Evin Demirhan Yavuz qualified for 2024 Paris Olympics

Competing in the 50-kilogram category, national wrestler Evin Demirhan Yavuz earned Türkiye an Olympic quota. Evin, who won the competition in Belgrade, qualified for the Olympics for the second time in her career. The number of Turkish wrestlers who received the Olympic quota in Belgrade increased to four.

At the 2023 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia, national wrestler Evin Demirhan Yavuz won an Olympic quota for Türkiye in the women's 50 kg category. Evin won the match in Belgrade and qualified for the Olympics for the second time in her career. The number of Turkish wrestlers who achieved Olympic quota in Belgrade reached four.

OLYMPICS FOR SECOND TIME

Competing at 50 kilograms, Evin Demirhan Yavuz defeated her French rival Julie Martina Sabatie 4-1 in the first round. In the second round, she lost to Mongolian Dolgorjav 8-3. In the repechage, she defeated AIN (Individual- Belarus) Ksenya Stankevich 11-2 and faced her US rival Sarah Ann Hildebrandt for the bronze medal and Olympic quota. Against the experienced US wrestler, Yavuz fell behind 2-0 in the last minute of the first period. She finished the half 3-0 behind when she gave 1 more point with a warning. Although she tried to resist her opponent in the second half, Evin lost the match 5-0 and lost her medal chance, but she wrestled for the Olympic quota in the 5th place match.

Evin faced the Olympic quota for Colombian Cardoza. Evin won the match and qualified for the Olympics for the second time in his career. Evin Demirhan Yavuz will go to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
