In the women's singles second round of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 series tournament hosted by the Chinese capital Beijing, Ons Jabeur, who is the only tennis player among the Arab countries to enter the top 10 in the world ranking, faced the world number 33 Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

Kostyuk defeated Jabeur 2-0 with sets of 7-6 and 6-1 after 1 hour and 17 minutes of struggle.

In the women's singles, world number 1 Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka defeated Great Britain's Katie Boulter 2-0 with sets of 7-5 and 7-6 at the end of a competitive match and reached the next round.
