NBA defending champion Nuggets start season with Lakers win
The 2023-2024 season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) started with two games.
In the opening match of the 78th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA), defending champion Denver Nuggets hosted the Los Angeles Lakers on its court.
Nuggets started the season with a victory by winning the game 119-107 in which all-star Nikola Jokic had a triple-double with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Jamal Murray had 21 points and 6 assists, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 20 points and 3 steals for the hosts.
LeBron James, who entered his 21st season in the NBA, had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Lakers, while TauRean Prince scored 18 points and Anthony Davis added 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The players who won the Nuggets the first championship in their history last season received their rings in a ceremony held before the game.
SUNS BEAT WARRIORS WITH BOOKER
In the other game of the night, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors 108-104 on the road.
Devin Booker had 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, Kevin Durant 18 points, 11 rebounds, and Josh Okogie 17 points, and 5 rebounds for the Suns.
Stephen Curry had 27 points and 5 rebounds for the Warriors, while Klay Thompson had 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Chris Paul, who wore his new team's jersey for the first time, had 14 points and 9 assists.
