With the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Erdogan, the name of the person appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) was announced. Hafize Gaye Erkan, whose name has been in the news for a while, was appointed as the Governor of the CBRT.

"With the decision published in the Official Gazette, Sahap Kavcioglu, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, was appointed as the Chairman of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Board, and Hafize Gaye Erkan was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. The appointments were made in accordance with Articles 2, 3 and 7 of the Presidential Decree."

Bloomberg was among the newspapers that mentioned Erkan. The article stated that Erkan is Türkiye's first female CBRT governor. In the rest of the article, Erkan's career was covered in detail.

Hafize Gaye Erkan was also on the agenda in Greece. Talking about Erdoğan's decision, the newspaper said, "It is not known what Ms. Erkan's intentions are at the moment." Another Greek newspaper, Kathimeri, also mentioned Erkan. The newspaper stated that they are examining Erkan's career.
