Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is making his first foreign visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) following his re-election as President of the Republic on May 28.
Within the scope of his first visit, President Erdogan landed at Ercan Airport in Nicosia, the capital of the TRNC, at around 01:10 PM local time and was welcomed by TRNC President Ersin Tatar. President Erdogan first shook hands with the TRNC delegation one by one and then saluted the welcoming guard.
Afterwards, Erdogan left the airport with his vehicle and will first lay a wreath at the Ataturk Monument and sign the special book of the monument. He will then proceed to the Presidency and will be welcomed by TRNC President Ersin Tatar with an official ceremony.
In the bilateral meeting between Erdogan and Tatar, who came to the TRNC after 2 years, it is expected that they will exchange ideas on the steps to be taken in all areas of bilateral relations, as well as discussing the developments on the island in detail with its regional and global dimensions. Erdogan and Tatar will hold a joint press conference after the meeting.
President Erdogan was accompanied by his wife Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Head of National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalin, Head of Defense Industries Haluk Gorgun and AK Party Spokesperson Omer Celik.
His next stop will be Azerbaijan.
