Turkmen families take refuge in Idlib security zone

Syrian Turkmens taking refuge in the Turkish security zone in Idlib say they face daunting difficulties in makeshift camps.

Anadolu Agency spoke to Turkmen families who had been forced to flee their homes due to regime attacks in last May. 

The immediate danger to widow Fatma Osman and her family is the approaching winter and lack of food.

Fearing the lack of adequate shelter and heating, the mother of eight lamented: “I do not know how we are going to get through winter. There is not even enough water.”

“We eat whatever is given to us. Otherwise, we have no food,” she said.

Another Turkmen, Imad Nebhan said in the absence of waterproof sheets, rain water will flood the camp.

“There is much hardship here. We left our homes, our martyrs, our children and our widowed women to come here.”
