Kahramanmaras was shaken by two major earthquakes, 9 hours apart, on February 6th. The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes caused destruction in 10 cities in Türkiye and also north of Syria. More than 30 thousand people lost their lives under the rubble and 80 thousand people were injured. After the earthquake, messages of support for Türkiye continue to come from all over the world.
Ukrainian soldier Roman, who is in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, where fierce conflicts continue between Ukraine and Russia, offered his condolences to Türkiye with a video message he published while he was at the front. Stating that he learned about the earthquakes in Türkiye, Roman said that he had been to Alanya and Marmaris several times and said, “I love your country, I love your people. I'm really sorry for what happened. This tragedy is terrifying. We Ukrainians know how terrible it is for innocent people to die. That's why we want to say this. Stay strong. God bless you. Save as many people as possible and stay strong. You are on our minds."
While Roman was sending his video message, it was heard that the clashes on the front line continued.
