Opening the 52nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council, which started at the UN Geneva Office, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, 2023 Term President of the UN Human Rights Council, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN Geneva Office Ambassador Vaclav Balek, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, Türkiye's Permanent Representative to the UN Geneva Office Ambassador Guven Begec and representatives of other countries and UN institutions attended.

ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO LOST LIVES IN THE EARTHQUAKE

The session started with a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in Türkiye and Syria in the Kahramanmaras-centered earthquake that took place on 6 February.

The first day of the council will continue with opening speeches. UN Secretary-General Guterres will also speak.

The 52nd session, chaired by Ambassador Balek, Permanent Representative of Czech Republic to the UN Geneva Office, will end on 4 April.
