Editor-in-chief of German magazine fired for AI interview

As the work on artificial intelligence continues, it has started to enter our lives with new applications. In Germany, Die Aktuelle announced the news about the former 'Formula 1' champion Michael Schumacher, who was paralyzed after his accident and did not come out to the public, as the 'first interview' on its cover.

At the bottom of the article, he wrote, "A surprising reality". On the inside pages of the magazine, it was stated that the interview was published on an internet platform and was made with Artificial Intelligence.

APOLOGIES TO THE COMPETITOR'S FAMILY

The media group Funke, which owns the magazine, released a statement late Friday, apologizing to the family of the racer, who has not appeared in public since he suffered a serious brain injury in a ski accident in late 2013.

CEO Bianca Pohlmann said, “This distasteful and misleading article should not have appeared. It in no way meets the journalistic standards that our and our readers expect from a publisher like Funke."

She added that the company has parted ways with 'Die Aktuelle' editor-in-chief Anne Hoffmann.

Schumacher's family told news agency DPA that they plan to take legal action in light of the broadcast.
