Ugandan Minister Engola killed by his bodyguard

Uganda's State Minister for Labor, Employment and Industrial Relations was killed Tuesday morning by his bodyguard. The suspect killed himself with the gun he shot the minister after the murder. The cause of the incident is still unknown.

On Tuesday morning, Uganda's State Minister for Labor, Employment and Industrial Relations, 65-year-old Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola was strangled to death in his home by his bodyguard, The East African reported.

The guard killed the minister himself with the gun he shot right after the incident.

CONFIRMED INFORMATION

The Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the incident.

“Yes. Go to Kyanja, there is a shooting. A soldier has shot his boss,” Owoyesigire told the Monitor phone.

Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament Anita Among da olayı doğruladı.

“This morning, I received sad news that Hon Engola has been shot by his bodyguard. May his soul rest in peace. That was God’s plan.  We can’t change anything,” Ms Among said.

A citizen who witnessed the event said, "The guard said he had n't been paid Ush4 million. He said he had a pregnant woman and his children were not going to school yet the minister's children were schooling."

Still, the exact cause of the murder is unknown.
