A tsunami alert was issued in the region after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the South Pacific at 05:57 am. The earthquake occurred near New Caledonia, an island country east of Australia.

TSUNAMI ALERT ISSUED

After a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in the southeast of the Loyalty Islands, a tsunami alert was issued and sirens began to sound. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for Vanuatu, Fiji and New Caledonia. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology announced that the east coast is under threat.

The tremor occurred a thousand kilometers away from the settlements. According to the information obtained, no casualties and damage have been reported yet.
