In Isfahan, Iran, 3 people sentenced to death for intentionally killing 3 security guards with a gun during the Mahsa Amini demonstrations were executed.

It was announced that Saleh Mir Hashemi Baltaki, Majid Kazimi Sheikh Shabani and Said Yaqoubi Kurdsefli, who were sentenced to death on charges of "intentional killing with weapons" and "waging war against the state" in the demonstrations that started after the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran and lasted for weeks, were executed.

 In the Iranian press, it was claimed that the 3 executed people were linked to the People's Mojahedin Organization, which is considered a terrorist organization in the country, Ihlas News Agency reported.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on September 16, who collapsed and was hospitalized after being detained in the Iranian capital Tehran on September 13, caused outrage in the country and demonstrations started across the country. 

In November 2022, 3 security guards named Mohsen Hamidi, Mohammad Kerimi and Mohsen Cheragi were killed in an armed attack during the demonstrations organized in Hane neighborhood of Isfahan city. 

The perpetrators of the attack, Saleh Mir Hashemi Baltaki, Majid Kazimi Sheikh Shabani and Said Yaqoubi Kurdsefli, were sentenced to death.

In the demonstrations that lasted for about 4 months in the country and more than 10 people were sentenced to death, 7 people have been executed so far.
