The driver who crashed into the security barriers near the White House in the US was detained, while a Nazi flag was found from the vehicle. It is not known whether the action was intentional or not.

Lafayette Square near the White House in Washington D.C., the capital of the US, was the scene of an eventful night. 

In a statement made by the US Secret Service, it was stated that a rented truck hit the security barriers twice in Lafayette Square and a Nazi flag was found from the vehicle. 

The driver was detained in the incident, whether it was a deliberate act or not is unknown, Ihlas News Agency reported.

While no one was injured in the incident, the surrounding roads were closed to traffic for security reasons.

President Joe Biden, who had a meeting with US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy at the White House last night, did not specify where he was during the incident.

CRIMINAL ARRESTED

The driver was identified as Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, of Chesterfield, Missouri, according to a statement Tuesday by Park Police, Anadolu reported.

"Kandula was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, threatening to kill / kidnap / inflict harm on a president, vice president, or family member, destruction of federal property, and trespassing," it said.
