A 'fortune' officially fell in the garden of the expatriate Sahin family living in Germany.
Stating that a 3.7-kilogram meteorite fell in their garden while they were sitting at home, the Sahin family received an offer of 200,000 euros for the rare meteoroid. While the family has not yet decided to sell the meteorite, they are keeping it in a safe for now.
Mahmut Sahin said, "But my daughters wanted to test the meteorite with a magnet. Because they knew that the meteorite remained magnetic even hours after the impact. Normal rocks or stones are not like this."
Stating that they received many offers from outside Germany, Sahin said that the highest offer was 200,000 euros. Emphasizing that they kept the meteorite in a safe and that it was important for others to see and examine it, Sahin said that according to the information they received from experts, this meteorite is the largest meteorite that has ever fallen in the state of Schleswig Holstein.
