An Israeli settler shot and killed a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank on Friday after he allegedly tried to carry out a knife attack, the Israeli army said.
The army said the unidentified man infiltrated the secured area and tried to stab a resident before he was "neutralized". Israel said there were no casualties and soldiers were combing the area.
The Palestinian health ministry said it was informed by the unit that coordinates civilian affairs with Israel of a Palestinian man who was shot dead "by the occupation" south of Hebron.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred as settlers gathered to pray during the Jewish festival of Shavout.
The Israeli military alerted settlers there to remain indoors and lock their doors shortly before 10 AM in a message sent via its app.
