Australian Tim Shaddock, 51, survived for two months eating raw fish and drinking rainwater after his boat was damaged in a storm on a sea voyage with his dog Bella. Shaddock, a resident of Sydney, Australia, and his dog Bella left Mexico for French Polynesia in April.
Shaddock set out on a journey of more than 6,000 kilometers from La Paz, Mexico, but soon began drifting in the North Pacific ocean after his ship's electronics were cut off due to bad weather.
The man and his dog, who survived for two months by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater, were rescued by a nearby boat after a helicopter spotted them. "I'm just needing rest and good food because I've been alone at sea a long time," the man told reporters.
Shaddock said his fishing gear helped him survive. He managed to avoid sunburn by taking shelter under the awning of his boat.
