Syrian sources claimed that four soldiers were killed and four others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting some points near the capital Damascus.
A Syrian military source told the Syrian state news agency SANA that "at around 2:00 a.m. today, Israel launched an airstrike from the Golan direction targeting some points near Damascus, but the air defense systems countered the attack and shot down most of the missiles. The source added that 'the attack killed four soldiers, wounded four others and caused some material losses'.
According to Anadolu Agency, the capital Damascus is surrounded by the Syrian army and Iranian-backed armed groups. Since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011, Israel has occasionally launched attacks against Iranian-backed groups and Syrian army positions in Syria.
