Israel killed 40 Palestinian children in 8 months, DC says
The Geneva-based Defence for Children International (DC) says Israel has killed 40 Palestinian children since the beginning of 2023. The Israeli authorities are currently detaining 160 Palestinian children, pointing out that 21 of them are detained under administrative detention.
Ayed Abu Qatish, one of the officials of the Palestinian branch of Defence for Children International (DC), made some important statements. Reminding that 17-year-old Palestinian Remzi Fathi Hamid, who was wounded by the fire opened by the security guard of the illegal Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank, died in the hospital this morning, Abu Qatish said that the number of Palestinian children killed by Israel since the beginning of the year has reached 40.
According to Anadolu Agency, Abu Qatish said that Israeli forces or Jewish settlers killed 33 children in the West Bank and 7 in the blockaded Gaza Strip during this period. Abu Qatish said that the Israeli authorities are currently detaining 160 Palestinian children, pointing out that 21 of them are detained under administrative detention.
Underlining that impunity for crimes means a green light for Jewish settlers to kill Palestinian children, Abu Qatish said that attacks by Jewish settlers that result in the death of children always go unpunished.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 17-year-old Hamid, who was shot several days ago in the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah, died in hospital this morning.
